CIPO Updates to the 11th Edition of the Nice Classification System

The Canadian Intellectual Property Office has announced it has updated the trade-marks Goods and Services Manual to reflect the issuance of the 11th edition of the Nice Classification by the World Intellectual Property Office.

While adherence to the Nice Classification is not currently mandatory in Canada, its adoption has completed the legislative process and will come into force at a date to be determined by an Order-in-Council.

Andrews Robichaud is happy to answer any questions you may have regarding this announcement and how it may affect your trade-mark rights in Canada.
