The world is gearing up to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday and big things are happening in our Nation’s Capital. All of us at Andrews Robichaud want to extend a warm, Canadian, invitation to come to Ottawa and take part in the Canada 150 June events.

Canada is a diverse, but inclusive and welcoming, country. We truly believe there is something here for everyone. Whether you’re ready to party all night long, or peruse an artisan market, you aren’t going to want to miss this national celebration. For the Culture Buff: Canada Scene

Canadian culture is more than Tim Hortons Coffee and Hockey Games (shocking, we know). If you’re looking to experience the essence of Canadian-ness look no further than Canada Scene. This festival brings together thousands of Canadian artists to create a living portrait of contemporary Canadian culture. Canada Scene will showcase musicians, dancers, actors, media arts, films, and circuses to give you a holistic sense of what it means to be Canadian. Come and get your Canada on!

Escapade Music Fest is here to show you that Ottawa knows how to throw a party just like the rest of them. This two-day festival will show case some of the biggest names in dance music, featuring artists like Oliver Heldens, Tiesto, Steve Aoki, Zeds Dead, Richie Hawtin, and many more. So if you’re looking for the best of Electronic Dance Music, and amazing over the top production, prepare to be wowed all night long at Escapade. 

For the La La Land Lover: Ottawa Jazz Festival

Who wasn’t searching for a cool jazz bar after watching Ryan Gosling shred the piano in La La Land? (Ryan by the way grew up not far from Ottawa, and believe it or not was represented by Mike Andrews of our firm when he signed on to become one of the new Mouseketeers). Well look no further, because Ottawa is bringing Jazz to the Nations Capital for the 30th year in a row. Ottawa Jazz festival showcases world class jazz musicians to a notoriously cool and open minded audience of music lovers. So if you’re a long time jazz fan, or have jumped on the La La Land band wagon, you cannot miss this staple summer event.

For the Craft Beer Connoisseur:  The Brewery Market

Do you love a nice, cold, hand crafted, brew? Do you love the sense of community, and support of local business, that farmer’s markets offer but hate vegetables? Ottawa Fringe Festival has been operating since 1997 under one goal: to support local artists. The Festival is 100% open access where all the ticket sales go back to the artist. This kind of incentive draws the most creative and talented people to put on amazing shows every single night. So if you’re a theater nut they definitely have a show for you. With performances from one person stand up, to full blown productions, this festival is ready to entertain you.

And finally, no list of Ottawa events would be complete without mention of the Byward Market. The market is home to over 600 unique shows and restaurants, offering many one of a kind products and services. And to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary, Inspiration Village, has been set up amongst the streets of the market to show case Canada’s history. The market is a must see for Canada’s 150th anniversary.
